MD-CD1mkIII的CD机部分可以支持MP3和WAV格式的回放，另外支持标准的CD格式或者CD-TEXT光盘。MD机部分可以播放或者录制所有 主要格式：SP,MONO,LP2和LP4。光盘可以从CD复制到MD录音机高达4倍的速度，可以连续循环播放。 CD和MD都包括自动提示和自动准备功能。
在后面板，每一通道都有一套非平衡输出接口，同轴和光纤数字输出接口。MD机部分有非平衡输入接口，同轴和光纤数字输入接口。选购配件平衡套装LA-MC1，为MD-CD1mkIII提供了平衡的I/O。可以使用RS-232C无线遥控器或者PS/2键盘控制。
